Scope moves the price: applicant entities to reconstruct, classification branches to cross-check, years and offices. Not included: legal advice, freedom-to-operate opinions, validity opinions or patentability assessments. A report is not a substitute for a patent attorney.

Learn

Build reports on EPO TIP

For PATLIB centres, university libraries and IP departments.

We teach, you keep what you learn, on the EPO’s Technology Intelligence Platform. First given at the PATLIB Conference 2026 in Warsaw. Remote, in English or German. The whole course is public: every module, the deck and the installer.

Training

You run it. On your own TIP.

We set the course up in each participant’s own TIP — one command — and then work through the modules with your own region, your own company, your own question.

  • Notebooks ship executed, with the code folded away; only the cells you are meant to change stay open

Before the session: each participant needs their own EPO TIP account.

Technical setup for your IT team

The command installs the Claude Code assistant into the participant’s home folder, adds it to the PATH and clones the course material to ~/epo-tip4patlibs; running it again updates. Read the script before you run it: install.sh in the public repository(opens in new tab).

  • An Anthropic subscription — only to extend the notebooks with the assistant, not to run them.
  • DPMA_USER / DPMA_PASS — only for the second notebook of module 3, German national coverage. Its main notebook runs on PATSTAT alone.

  4. Antibiotic Resistance Report: one landscape report from four notebooks — who files, where, when, which technologies co-occur.

  5. IPScore: a questionnaire page in, a valuation page out.

The toolchain

For analysts who want to run the analysis themselves, continuously.

  • patstat-mcp: EPO PATSTAT Global on BigQuery, over MCP.
  • DPMA register and EPO OPS: the German national route, plus legal status.
  • Classification and applicant reference data: full IPC and CPC hierarchies, definitions, reclassification chains.
  • The report generator (question, multi-layer search, SQL, sections, QA), methodology guides, onboarding and support.
